The General Assembly formally blessed the second term of Secretary General Ban Ki Moon. Ban was always something of a shoe-in. He received the backing of the Security Council and no country or group of countries put forward any competing candidate. Ban’s second term was unanimously approved by the 192 member General Assembly.
