Map of the Day: Vaccine Preventable Outbreaks Where they Should Not Be

The Council on Foreign Relations just posted this interactive global map of outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases like measles, mumps, whooping cough since 2008.  Not surprisingly, sub-Saharan Africa carries the heaviest global burden of these diseases. But they also pop up in places they really should not. Like what is going on with New Zealand? And it seems that vaccine hysterics in Europe has really taken a hard toll–particularly in wealthy, well educated parts of western Europe.

Anyway, take time to play around with this map.  Well done, CFR!
