Stunting: “The Least Understood, Most Under-appreciated Development Issue in the World”

Very good for CNN to team up with UNICEF to draw attention to stunting, which in the video clip below UNICEF Chief Anthony Lake calls “the least understood, most under-appreciated development issue…in the world.”

Stunting occurs when children are deprived of the proper nutrients in their first two years. This results in physical and mental impairments that can affect children through their entire lives.  Ensuring that a child has a proper diet is the only way to prevent stunting, so UNICEF has been on a big push recently to draw attention to the issue. David Beckham has even joined the cause.
