Ukraine: A UN report released today noted an increasingly more urgent human rights situation in eastern Ukraine. Navi Pillay, High Commissioner for Human Rights, noted more problems are also emerging in Crimea.

CAR: UNHCR is reporting new displacement as a result of escalating conflict in the centre-north. Most of those displaced were Christians—women and children. UNHCR and other agencies are providing shelters and other non-food assistance.

UNICEF: Concluding his trip to China today, UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake stressed the importance of reducing inequality for children, especially in remote parts of the country.After meeting with government officials, Lake commended China for its efforts in addressing socio-economic disparities within the country.

South Sudan: UNMISS reported violations to the Status of Forces Agreement between the UN Mission and the government and stressed the importance of allowing UN and humanitarian workers to move throughout the country to continue their work.

Myanmar: OCHA and other humanitarian and relief organizations are urging involved parties—namely the Myanmar Army and the Kachin Independence Army—to cease fighting which is leading to increased insecurity and displacement of thousands of people.

India: Though results are forthcoming, the SG commends India for a peaceful and successful general election.
