How Cartoons Promote Breastfeeding in China

It’s World Breastfeeding Week! 

Breast milk is among the most nutritious liquids on the planet for infants, and therefore can reduce problems associated with malnutrition and the risky first few months of life. Supporting and encouraging the exclusive breastfeeding of babies in their first six months has become an international public health priority for many years.

This should be intuitive, but many places are not as friendly to nursing mothers as they should be. Cultural norms and sometimes public policy can discourage nursing.

UNICEF and China’s Centers for Disease Control have teamed up to encourage mothers to nurse their newborns through a series of new animated ads aimed at carving out the physical and cultural space for nursing mothers to nurse.  Check them out.
