By: Mark Leon Goldberg on April 16, 2014 Today, 14 humanitarian agencies have launched a joint appeal for $274 million to help refugees from CAR. This seemed like an opportune moment to display this map from the UN Refugee Agency. CAR Emergency Situation 10 April There are currently 335,000 refugees from the Central African Republic who have fled fighting for neighboring countries. The UN expects that number to increase to 362,000 by the end of the year. The map is a reminder that CAR is in a very tough region. The countries to which refugees are fleeing are not terribly stable, nor do they have the resources to handle an influx of refugees. This funding will help pay for the basic needs of refugees in countries that are already suffering from their own economic and development challenges.
