By: Mark Leon Goldberg on May 11, 2012 Rio+20 is just 40 days away! As world leaders gather in Rio de Janiero for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development to negotiate and fine tune a series of agreements on development, energy, and sustainable growth, a more open “people’s forum” will be underway across town. This is Rio+Social. It is being put together by the same team that brought you the excellent Social Good Summit during UN Week in New York. There are excellent speakers lined up, from the very famous to the not-famous, to the should-be-famous. Like the Social Good Summit, Rio+Social will focus on innovative solutions to the planet’s most pressing challenges, with a particular eye to exploring how globally connected communities can work together for a more sustainable, healthy future. Chances are that if you are reading this blog, you care about the issues and ideas that will be discussed in Rio. So, take that extra step and participate in person. Registration is now open. If you can’t make it down to Rio in person, you will be able to follow all the events via livestream. Come join the conversation!
