Should Palestine Be Admitted to the UN? The Intelligence Squared Debate

Wherever you stand on the issue of Palestinian membership to the United Nations, this video is worth your while. It is from the Intelligence Squared, an Oxford style debate program in which two sides trade arguments and the audience votes on which side they think presented the more compelling argument.

The formal resolution is “The UN should admit Palestine as a full member state.” Arguing in favor are Daniel Levy, an Israeli citizen and former peace negotiator; and Mustafa Barghouti a long time Palestinian political leader. Arguing against the resolution is the former Israeli Ambassador to the UN Dore Gold and a former US peace envoy Aaron Miller.

In the end, the resolution “passes,” but not by a wide margin.
