UN Dispatch is in Rio!

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – By now, you know that the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, otherwise known as Rio+20, is well underway. I’ll be here all week, bouncing between events, press conferences and meetings.  I’ll write several posts throughout the week to help you suss out what is interesting, new or significant about this big UN confab.

Beyond the official forum underway at RioCintro, there are a number of interesting side events. Rio+Social, which kicks off tomorrow should be excellent. This is put together by the same crew that puts together the Social Good Summit in New York City during UN Week (that includes, the United Nations Foundation, Mashable, and the 92Y among others). This should be a great opportunity for people not here in Rio to connect to what is happening.

Official UN channels (and others) are using the hashtag #thefuturewewant which is the theme of this conference). #Rioplus20 and #riopussocial (especially tomorrow) are the tags to hash, so to speak.

If you have any recommendations for events I should attend or stories I should cover; any questions about the official or unofficial gatherings happening down here; or just want to get together in person, send me an email or hit me up on twitter @MarkLGoldberg or @UNDispatch. And be sure to follow both those feeds for constant updates throughout the week.
