Yesterday, a United Nations panel found evidence that ISIS is perpetrating an ongoing genocide against the Yazidi religious community in Iraq and Syria. Their findings are based on scores of interviews, documentary evidence reviews, intelligence and satellite imagery, among other things.

For months, Yazidi victims of this genocide have been telling their own story. This girl was just 15 years old when ISIS overran her town in Iraq in 2014. She escaped from sexual enslavement, and is now living in Germany.  She bravely tells German television her story.

This is what a genocide survivor in 2016 looks like.
